About Southwest Bank
For more than 40 years, Southwest Bank has served North Texas as a personal, community bank. In 1975, former Governor Allan Shivers assumed ownership of the bank and it remained in the Shivers family. When John Shivers, Sr. took over the helm from his father, he continued the philosophy of personal service and trust. Under his leadership the bank grew to five locations serving customers in Fort Worth, Burleson, Saginaw, Mansfield and Dallas.
In July, 2007, a new era began for Southwest Bank when it was acquired by First Texas BHC, a holding company led by Vernon Bryant, formerly the president and CEO of Texas Bank. Earlier that year, Bryant had acquired another local bank, Community Bank of Texas N.A., and on September 1, 2007, they merged under the new brand and banner of Southwest Bank.
Southwest Bank is now the largest, locally owned commercial bank in Tarrant County. But even though we’re growing, our philosophy remains unchanged: to provide exceptional customer service while maintaining and cultivating relationships through a strong, community bank. That means taking the time to listen to you, our customers, and doing whatever it takes to give you the products and services you need. It’s our promise to you and it’s what you can expect at every branch, no matter how many branches we open.
By the end of 2007, we will have 10 locations and an even stronger presence in Tarrant County.
